EXPANSION: Activities

  • ▪Coordinate shoe shipments from Samaritan’s Feet or other partners

    ▪Transport to CHOCU’s regional warehouse or distribution center

    ▪Maintain inventory control, sorting by age, size, and gender

    👉 This step requires excellent planning, and budgeting. 

  • ▪Partner with primary schools and community leaders in rural villages

    ▪Mobilize CHOCU staff and trained volunteers for events

    ▪Measure feet, match sizes, and ensure proper fitting

    ▪Offer each child a new or gently-used pair of shoes

    ▪Capture impact data: names, photos, testimonies, attendance records

    👉  Moments of celebration, dignity, and hope. opportunities for media coverage, donor visibility, and community bonding.

  • ▪Teach children basic foot hygiene and general cleanliness

    ▪Distribute soap or hygiene leaflets

    ▪Emphasize daily washing, nail cutting, and shoe care

    ▪Involve teachers in reinforcing hygiene messages

    👉Transforms a shoe gift into a health intervention, preventing jiggers, foot infections, and disease.CHOCU's program more than just charity, it's public health.

  • ▪Revisit schools 1–3 months after distribution

    ▪Interview teachers: Has attendance improved?

    ▪Observe: Are students wearing shoes?

    ▪Gather testimonials from parents and head teachers

    ▪Document and share results with donors and partners

  • ▪Children walking barefoot face constant cuts, infections, jiggers, and burns from hot roads.

    ▪Shoes protect against foot trauma, parasites, snake bites, and thorn injuries.

    ▪This leads to fewer missed school days, less pain, and lower health risks.

  • ▪Children without shoes often skip school due to pain, embarrassment, or hygiene issues.

    ▪After receiving shoes, many children show sustained increase in weekly attendance.

    ▪Teachers report higher morale and confidence, especially in upper primary grades.

  • ▪Shoes restore a child’s sense of identity, confidence, and equality.

    ▪Children walk taller, smile more, and participate freely without shame.

    ▪They are no longer “the barefoot ones” and can stand proudly with peers.
