Education & Opportunity

We help children stay in school and build skills for the future, through back-to-school support, literacy, learning access, and youth development.
The goal is long-term opportunity: confident learners prepared for life and leadership.

Who we are

Brief Background of CHOCU

CHOCU is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing childhood vulnerability through early care, protection, and education.
We focus on children from poor and vulnerable families, addressing the challenges that threaten their health, safety, learning, and long-term wellbeing. By intervening early and working through schools, families, and communities, CHOCU helps children build resilience and remain on a path toward opportunity.
Our work is grounded in dignity, compassion, and sustainability that when children are protected early in life, entire futures can change.

OUR FOCUS AREAS:

CHOCU addresses childhood vulnerability through three connected pillars that address the root causes of childhood vulnerability and support long-term resilience.

  • Child Well-Being & Protection

Protecting children from preventable harm and exclusion so they can grow healthy, safe, and included.

  • Family Strengthening & Poverty Reduction

Supporting caregivers and household stability to create safer, more resilient environments for children.

  • Education & Opportunity

Helping children stay in school, build skills, and access pathways to long-term learning and opportunity.

Protecting Children’s Health and Dignity, Starting with Shoes

Many children walk long distances to school barefoot, making them vulnerable to preventable injuries and illnesses that can keep them out of school, limit their future, and lead to long-term vulnerability.

CHOCU’s Shoe Distribution Campaign is part of our Child Well-Being & Protection pillar. By providing properly fitted shoes through schools, we reduce health risks, restore dignity, and help children stay in school, where learning and resilience can take root.

Our Goals

Childhood vulnerability is preventable, and it shouldn’t decide a child’s future.
CHOCU works to protect children early, strengthen families, and keep learning within reach so every child can be healthy, safe, resilient, and able to achieve their full potential.

Three pillars: • Child Well-Being & Protection • Family Strengthening • Education & Opportunity

How we work

Our Model: Early Support That Builds Resilience

We work through schools, families, and community partners to identify children most at risk.
Then we respond with practical early support; health, protection, and learning resources, so children can stay safe, stay in school, and build resilience over time.
