Our Purpose: Equip young people (ages 12–22) with the confidence, life skills, values, and practical tools to lead in school, work, faith, and community.
EXPANSION: Activities
Monthly or termly sessions on:
▪What is leadership?
▪Servant leadership (Jesus model)
▪Responsibility & accountability
▪Listening, empathy, and inclusion
▪Time management & goal setting
▪Making decisions under pressure
▪Use interactive tools: games, role-play, debates
▪Invite local leaders or returned missionaries to speak
👉 These build identity and direction especially in youth who feel forgotten or ashamed.
▪Create youth speaking clubs with weekly practice
Teach:
▪Confidence
▪Clear communication
▪Body language
▪Leading prayers or devotionals
▪Debates and storytelling
Include “CHOCU Speech Day” events for parents and schools
👉 Many Ugandan youth fear speaking yet it’s a core skill for success in secondary, mission, BYU-PW, and life.
➡️ This activity prepares them for interviews, callings, and future influence.
Partner with CHOCU’s HES program to train youth in:
▪Business ideas
▪Profit vs. loss
▪Customer care
▪Creativity with local resources
▪Building something from nothing
▪Host youth business expos or “idea pitch days”
▪Give seed prizes to winning groups
👉 This gives youth agency they stop waiting for help and start building ideas.
Host small group sessions based on age level (O-level, A-level, S4 leavers)
Talk through:
▪Possible career paths
▪School subject choices
▪Vocational vs. academic track
▪Scholarships
▪BYU-Pathway introduction
Help create first CV/resume and email
Invite working professionals from local communities or church
👉 Many rural youth have no idea what’s possible this program opens their eyes and minds.
➡️ Especially important for youth who are smart but poor, orphaned, or directionless.
Organize youth-led service actions like:
▪Cleaning a borehole
▪Painting a school
▪Visiting elderly
▪Hygiene campaign
▪Mentoring younger students
▪Provide small support (paint, soap, snacks)
▪Celebrate effort with “CHOCU Youth Service Star” awards
