Charles Lukyamuzi

Founder

Charles’s story is one of resilience, purpose, and transformation. Born in Uganda, Charles grew up witnessing firsthand the hardships faced by children from poor and broken families, including many challenges he personally endured in his own childhood. These early experiences became the foundation for his deep empathy and lifelong commitment to restoring hope in the lives of vulnerable children.

Guided by faith and a desire to serve others, Charles served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 2021 to 2022, where he strengthened his testimony through service, compassion, and leadership. Building upon this experience, he pursued a bachelor’s degree in business management at Brigham Young University–Idaho, where he continues to develop his skills in organizational leadership, project management and financial stewardship skills that now guide his humanitarian work.

Driven by his conviction that every child deserves an equal chance to succeed, CHOCU was founded, a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring broken lives and providing educational opportunities for vulnerable children. His personal journey as a survivor of childhood hardship became the driving force behind CHOCU’s mission: to help children from poor and broken families build hope, dignity, and opportunity.

As Founder and Executive Director, Charles leads CHOCU with vision and integrity. His leadership has guided successful initiatives such as the Shoe Donation Campaign at St. Kizito Butenzi Primary School and the establishment of partnerships with organizations that share CHOCU’s mission of education, compassion, and empowerment. His work continues to inspire others to join in building a brighter, more equitable future for Uganda’s children.

To strengthen accountability and ensure long-term sustainability, CHOCU USA was later established as an independent nonprofit organization. While CHOCU Foundation Uganda focuses on implementing grassroots programs, CHOCU USA operates as a global partner dedicated to enhancing transparency, expanding awareness, and mobilizing resources to sustain CHOCU’s mission.

As Founder and Board Chair of CHOCU Foundation Uganda, Charles oversees governance, strategic planning, and collaboration with international partners. His lived experience, leadership, and unwavering faith continue to inspire a movement that transforms compassion into action and restores hope for Uganda’s children.
