Matthew Deal

International Relations & Partnerships

Matthew Deal’s life has been shaped by faith, family, and a deep love for the people of Uganda. Raised in Southern Utah, he now lives in Ivins with his wife and two daughters. He has been married for 13 years and currently manages a custom wallpaper warehouse, where he oversees operations and logistics.

From 2008 to 2011, Matthew served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in East Africa. Most of his service was spent in Uganda, where he experienced firsthand both the warmth and resilience of its people and the challenges many families face. During the final months of his mission, he helped establish the first LDS meeting group in Masaka, a milestone that strengthened his lifelong bond with the country and deepened his desire to serve its people.

Those years in Uganda inspired Matthew’s enduring passion for humanitarian work and his belief that education and community empowerment are the keys to lasting change. His firsthand experience and cultural understanding bring an invaluable perspective to CHOCU’s outreach and collaboration efforts.

As International Relations & Partnerships Officer, Matthew helps build and nurture CHOCU’s global connections. His leadership, compassion, and faith continue to strengthen the organization’s mission to create opportunities for children from low-income families to learn, grow, and achieve their potential.
